The combination of contemplative retreats, learning, and community nourished, expanded and brought healing to my soul. The Studion taught me new languages that opened up my world, such as appreciating the sacredness of holding each other’s stories, the beauty of silence, spiritual exercises and so much more. My relationship with God and others deepened and I have decided to be a spiritual director as a result of this journey.

My experience in the Studion School of Spiritual Direction was profound, life-giving, and life-changing. I loved every moment in the two years I spent in the school at the Star of the North Retreat Center and revisit the texts we studied often. As a result of my time there, I am working as a Spiritual Director and retreat director both in-person and online. The experience opened the door to a new way of living and working. I encourage anyone seeking a closer relationship with God, deeper faith, and a more mature understanding of Christian spirituality to engage in this program.

The Studion was an unexpected gift in my own formation journey. When I entered the program, I expected to add tools for a ministry role in my church. I gained tools but I also found an identity and sureness in God’s great love that previously was not mine. That encounter with God and the wisdom of the faculty created a foundation that led to richer, better thinking about God’s presence and action in this world. The experience has become a plumb line by which I measure my leadership and my companionship. I am so grateful for the renovating of my soul that occurred through the Studion.
